Invisalign®
Straighter teeth, without anyone having to know.
Invisalign clear aligners gently move your teeth into place using a series of custom-fit, nearly invisible trays. No metal brackets. No wires. No awkward conversations — just results.
What Invisalign is
Invisalign is an orthodontic system that straightens teeth using a sequence of clear, removable plastic aligners — custom-made for your mouth based on a 3D scan. You wear each set of aligners for about one to two weeks, switching to the next set, gradually moving your teeth into their final position.
Because the aligners are transparent and removable, most people can't tell you're wearing them. You take them out to eat, drink (anything other than water), and brush — which means no food restrictions and no complicated cleaning around wires and brackets.
Who Invisalign is for
Invisalign works well for most common orthodontic issues:
- Crowded or overlapping teeth
- Gaps and spacing
- Mild to moderate bite issues (overbite, underbite, crossbite, open bite)
- Teeth that have shifted over time, including after braces in childhood
- Patients of most ages — Invisalign offers treatment plans designed specifically for adults, teens, and children (Invisalign First)
Severe orthodontic cases may still require traditional braces or surgical orthodontics. Dr. Kreitman will be honest with you at the consultation about whether Invisalign is the right tool for your situation.
What the process looks like
- Consultation & exam. We evaluate your teeth, bite, and gum health and determine whether Invisalign is appropriate. This visit includes an honest conversation about goals, timelines, and cost.
- 3D digital scan. No goopy impressions — we use an intraoral scanner to create a precise 3D model of your teeth. From that, we design a treatment plan and preview the final result on screen, so you can see the end before we start.
- Aligner delivery. Your custom aligners arrive a few weeks later. We fit the first set, explain daily wear, and answer every question.
- Wear & progress. You'll wear each aligner 20–22 hours per day, switching trays every 1–2 weeks. We see you every 6–10 weeks to check progress.
- Refinement & retainers. Most cases include a small set of refinement aligners at the end to polish the result. When you're done, retainers keep your new smile in place.
How long does it take?
Treatment length depends on the complexity of your case:
- Minor corrections: as little as 3–6 months
- Moderate cases: typically 9–15 months
- Comprehensive cases: 18–24 months
At your consultation, we'll give you a realistic estimate for your specific plan.
Frequently asked questions
Can people tell I'm wearing Invisalign?
In normal conversation, most people won't notice. The aligners are made from clear BPA-free plastic and fit snugly to your teeth. A few patients do experience a brief adjustment in speech for the first few days with a new set, but this typically resolves within a day.
Is Invisalign uncomfortable?
You'll feel pressure with each new aligner — that's the aligner doing its job. Most patients describe it as "tight" or "achy" for the first day or two of a new set, then it becomes unnoticeable. Unlike braces, there are no sharp wires or brackets that can irritate your cheeks.
What about eating and drinking?
You remove the aligners to eat or drink anything other than water. This is actually a big advantage over braces — no food is off-limits. You'll brush after meals (or at least rinse) before putting the aligners back in.
Does insurance cover Invisalign?
Many dental insurance plans that cover traditional orthodontics also cover Invisalign, often up to a lifetime orthodontic maximum. We'll verify your coverage and explain any out-of-pocket costs upfront, before you commit.
What if I lose an aligner?
It happens — usually wrapped in a napkin at a restaurant. Call the office right away and we'll advise whether to wear your previous aligner, move to the next one early, or order a replacement. We've seen it all; don't worry.
What about after treatment?
Teeth have a natural tendency to drift, which is why retainers are essential. We'll fit you with clear retainers (very similar to your aligners) and explain how often to wear them to preserve your new smile for the long term.
